The current president of WPIX Tribune Media in New York, Richard Graziano has spent almost two decades with Tribune Media, heading a diverse range of daily operations and strategic planning for the station. In his leisure time, Richard Graziano enjoys listening to the music of U2.

The Irish band U2 recently helped a choir of seven students from Ireland become part of the first rock performance in the Sistine Chapel in Rome through its Music Generation initiative. Led by Dawn Kenny, the seven students provided backup singing for the band’s own rock star known as The Edge.

The Edge received an invitation to perform in the Sistine Chapel as part of a three-day conference at the Vatican headed by the Stem for Life Foundation and addressing the topic of regenerative medicine. His performance included covers of Leonard Cohen songs such as Ordinary Love and If It Be Your Will. The Edge himself serves on the board of the Angiogenesis Foundation, an organization focused on promoting the healthy growth of new blood vessels in the fight against disease.

Over 70,000 people participate in Hartford Marathon events annually, including Richard Graziano, president of WPIX-TV. Having been extensively involved in Connecticut’s broadcasting scene throughout his career, Richard Graziano has also run the Hartford Marathon.

Driven by volunteers, the Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) utilizes support from over 3,500 of them every year. For 20 years, volunteers have helped make it possible for the HMF to organize community events that promote health and fitness. HMF volunteers receive free gear and refreshments at each event, are eligible to earn community service hours, and are entered into the HMF Volunteer Incentive Program to gain points that can be used towards events or merchandise.

Those interested in volunteering can do so with a group or individually in positions ranging from check-in to course cyclist. Check-in, registration, and packet pick-up volunteers assist with pre-race essentials. Course monitors and cyclists provide support to runners by helping with directions and clearing the race path. The finish line is a great place for kids to volunteer, as they can greet and congratulate runners on their success.
